O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion;

AL Quran : O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion; indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting) . And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful.
Al Quran , Al-Hujraat, (49), Verse 12

Hadith:Hudhaifa Radhi allahu anhu reported that I heard Allah's Messenger Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam saying: The tale-bearer (a person who spreads gossip, secrets that may cause trouble or harm) shall not enter Paradise.
Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 189 (Kitab Al-Imaan)
